Don`t Worry `Bout Us

'The kids are alright'

Here by the sea and sand
Nothing ever goes as planned,
I just couldn't face going home
It was just a drag on my own.
They finally threw me out
My mother got drunk on stout,
My dad couldn't stand on two feet,
As he lectured about morality.
Now I guess the families complete,
With me hanging round on the street
Or here on the beach.

Vol.3 'Rudies Lounge Birthday Bash' Update:

All Photos by Hiroto Taniguch
Hi everyone, Vol.3 was another great event for the Club PI, it`s going from strength to strength....The original Sapporo Ska Rude boyz HIGE GAKUDAN gave us an unforgettable show of pure energy of sound. Dropping all their classic numbers, the adrenaline feeling was like the old 2Tone days in the UK (circa 1979).

Kicking off the evening DJ Machin dropped his debut set for club PI and nicely warmed up the crowd with some fantastic Mod Jazz tracks..

Then Birthday boy, Yamadasan gave us his usual twist & shout of 6T`s soul and British beat classics!..check out his DJ mix above.

After the band Dj Mago and keiron b, continued the show with the ska & rocksteady vibes into the early morning hours..
Finishing off what was a superb night with shiro`s cake & champagne.

So to all of you...a big Domo Arigato Gozaimasu for enjoying what turned out as a classic evening!

Oh So Rare!!

About the rarest record and most sought after soul record of all time is about to go on sale!!...Yes.. you can actually buy it if you have very deep pockets.

Frank Wilson wrote and recorded "Do I Love You" (Indeed I Do) in 1965 and 6 demo copies were pressed up on Soul, the Motown subsidiary label, ahead of its scheduled release in November of that year. However Motown boss Berry Gordy wasn’t that impressed with the perfomrance of the song, and suggested Wilson stick to songwriting and producing. Copies were, as usual, ordered to be destroyed, but some (if not all six of them) survived. Only two copies were known to exist for certain in collecting circles, with Gordy himself claiming to also own one. However more copies have always rumoured to exist, and many stories and myths exist about them....

The song became very popular when it made its way onto the northern soul scene of England in the 7T`s. Record Collector Kenny Burrel famously paid £15,000 for his copy in 1996, but this new third copy should go for a much higher price than that. The record is to be sold via the John Manship auction site between March 14th and April 8th

Power of Sound!

Well, what another great night for the club pi and moving to a bigger venue the crowd didn`t disapoint us, with some well know sapporo faces in attendance, hige gakudan. The original beard and mustache boys turned out in style. Hopefully we can get these guys to do a live set with us someday. The Heatwave boys kicked off the evening, followed by a sizzling ska set from Hidevicious and then Shiro Yamada laying down his own brand of british beat.
But the highlight of the evening commenced a short time after keiron B. & dj Mago were flexing their tunes, back 2 back....

The Silverstars tune "Last Call" was the que!

Up stepped the main man PAPA B. to wax lyrical on the mic over the ska step, to an enthusiastic crowd....jumping on every note to the verbal energy of the top toaster...Nobody wanted it to end!....So a BIG Arigatoo to Papa B. for a great set...seen!
Let`s do it again soon..

papa b. & keiron b.

Dj Mago & keiron B. continued on back 2 back to the evenings close, to what was a cracking event, so stay tuned for Vol.3 coming soon!
